Winemaking: Estate grown on our Mt Barker vineyard. Hand picked from low yielding 22 year old vines. Whole berry fermented with a long cold soak prior to primary fermentation. 13 days on skins, with hand plunging and 02 spearing. Basket pressed and 20 months in 40% new French oak, 6 months bottle aged prior to the release.
Story: A remarkable vintage, warm weather in late December and early January was moderated by useful rain. The season concluded with mild, steady conditions and delivered fruit of high quality.
Taste: Opulent black fruits, cedar and cigar box aromatics merge with notes of olive and cassis. The palate is luscious with defined and concentrated flavours, underpinned by delicate perfumed spice, cedar and tobacco notes. Firm, but silky tannins and bright vibrant acidity enhance the structure and texture.
