The dust (read mud) has settled and again we are completely blown away by the ongoing support of our fantastic loyal customers.
Winter Reds 2019 was a huge success and it’s all thanks to you!
Friday night kicked off with dinner under the stars ‘Lumiere Noir’ in the fantastic marquee supplied by White Marquee. The boys from ‘Good Old Fashioned Way’ set the tone with some great tunes and had the crowd up on the dance floor by the end of the night. We set the vibe with fire pits on the lawn and canapés and bubbles on arrival. With house keeping out of the way guests moved into the marquee and it was Cookie’s turn to shine from the kitchen, and shine he did. Guests raved about the slow cooked beef ribs that fell off the bone and of course the apple cheesecake with the always popular miso caramel ice-cream (we are still trying to convince him to put it in a tub and let us buy it!)
The wine flowed freely all night and a great time was had by all.
Saturday we threw open the gates at 10am and ‘Shiraz Season’ officially kicked off. We had mini buses of festival-going punters rolling in the door, and guests finding their own way around the Adelaide Hills Wine Region with a car full of friends. It was hard not to make the most of the beautiful Winter sun. Dusty Lee and his band kicked off around midday, just as the buses from The Feathers Hotel rolled in to join us for the next few hours. As the day kicked on, again the kitchen became the hero, the dumplings and chicken wings were a huge hit. The dance floor started rocking as the Adelaide Hills Wine Region bus arrived for their last stop. Time flies when you’re having fun and soon enough 5pm rolled around and it was time to close the bar. Everyone slowly made their way to their rides as we got ready to do it all again on Sunday.
Sunday rolled around and we were excited to do it all again. Sunday was family day, and it was great to see so many families rolling through the doors early, finding their spot in the sun, letting the kids play with the balls and lawn games while they sat back and enjoy a well-earned glass of wine. The sun was shining and Sunday was off the best possible start. Pirate Life beers proved a hit in the ‘can van’, our outside bar, while the Spiked Vietnamese Ice Coffee kept the inside bar busy. The crowd favourite for the weekend was again the Rosé. The Adelaide Hills Wine region bus rolled in to get the day started at 10am.
Clover + Stone guests started arriving in from midday and for the third time this weekend the kitchen was the hero of the day, handling the 4 course set menu served in Clover + Stone and catering for the Winter Reds crowd outside. Sam Brittan got the tunes happening and the atmosphere picked up another couple notches.
5pm rolled around all too soon and that was our most successful Winter Reds ever, done and dusted!
A huge thanks goes to our wonderful customers and of course to our super hard working team.
We look forward to doing it all again soon – we have an exciting new event coming soon!
Cheers
