New Vintage Release
2023 Howard Vineyard Shiraz is now available in Cellar Door, Restaurant and online.
Winemaking – The grapes are harvested in the cool of the night so we can conduct a long cold soak prior to primary fermentation in 5 tonne open top fermenters. Ferments were run hot. Hand plunged, 02 speared. The grapes were then basket pressed after 10 days on skins and matured for 14 months in 20% new French oak Puncheons (500L barrels).
Bouquet – This wine shows dark berries on the nose, black cherry, blueberry and plum while also showing hints of a clover and spice; a vineyard characteristic. Oak characters also show through clove, chocolate and notes of vanilla.
Palate – The palate shows a basket of mixed dark and lighter fruits of cherry, blueberry, blackberry and plum. This wine has a richness from the pristine oak that is delivered to the palate through chocolate, clove and pepper notes. This wine is well balanced and finishes with silky soft tannin. This wine will continue to improve with time and careful cellaring.
Serving suggestions – Beef cheeks, rich stews as well as lighter red meats such as venison.
